• Walking Football

Takes place at the Erpingham Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) on Wednesday mornings at 10am.

Walking Football was initially designed to help get the over 50s back into football and exercise. However, we welcome men and women of all ages and abilities to our sessions, where the slower pace means less risk of injury than in conventional soccer. Play the game you love but with less chance of injury. It’s a great way to keep fit, learn skills, have fun and socialise all at the same time.

Come along and try it! Evening sessions are a possibility, subject to demand.

Takes place in Erpingham Village Hall on Monday mornings, starting at 9:30am.

Pilates is a method of controlled movements, which improve flexibility, build strength and develop endurance. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, coordination and balance. The sessions allow for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced or to any other level.

Exercise mats are available or you may prefer to bring your own.

  • Erpingham Leisure Hub

Erpingham Leisure Hub has recently been formed to promote, encourage and support engagement in sporting and physical activities by all members of the community.

The project has so far seen the introduction of successful Pilates and Walking Football classes, but is keen to start new activities for all age groups depending on demand from those living in Erpingham and surrounding villages.

The Hub has everything necessary to play the ‘non-ice’ version of the popular sport. In addition to organising sessions throughout the year, the Hub also loans the equipment to individuals, clubs and groups. It is an ideal activity for social events or fund raising.

  • Thwaite Common Toad Patrol

This year migration started early on 19th February, six days before the rota was due to begin!  Yet again we had a dry five weeks – it was mainly mild and only rained once, on 20th March.

After a slow start numbers increased from 6th March 6 with 388 toads moved off the road to the maximum in one night on 8th March 9 when 478 were saved!  The total number of toads saved for the period patrolled was 2,272 – just 22 less than our best year in 2010.

Twenty people took part – two were new to it and enjoyed themselves!  Statistics will be sent off to Froglife and toadwatch.org

SO – many thanks to everyone who helped our local wildlife.

    Stephen Burrell.
