Agincourt – Flower festival & Open Gardens

Saturday 27th June and Sunday 28th June 2015

Part of Agincourt 2015

FLOWER FESTIVAL

With beautiful weather on the Saturday: people packed the church and everyone was amazed at what they saw.  The Erpingham Embroidery brought gasps of wonder as it was unveiled by our Rector at 10am alongside some truly magnificent flower arrangements paying tribute to Sir Thomas Erpingham and medieval life. The WI were the masterminds behind the embroidery depicting the Battle of Agincourt and Sir Thomas’ life, family and legacy. 26 women contributed – some who had never threaded a needle before, but the result exceeded all expectations. What a legacy – congratulations to all concerned.

Thanks too to Su Pointer who organised a rota of excellent musicians throughout the two days – harps, singing, brass band, organ, flutes and bassoons – you name it, we had it!

Congratulations too to Linda Howard who oversaw all the arrangements for the flower festival, including displays varying from basketry, candle maker, plumage, St Julian of Norwich, to Erpingham School children researching the Horrible History of Weeds. Linda was also in charge of the refreshments – with a willing band of helpers and many people stayed a long time taking it all in.  I hope she can have a well earned rest now! Very well done to everyone.

OPEN GARDENS

This was run by the WI alongside the Flower Festival on the Sunday. Despite an unfortunate downpour for about 2 hours as the event was about to start plenty of people seemed to come and many drank coffee and ate cake in the village hall waiting for the rain to stop.
